Marching in With Goodness.

March can be a volatile month with its heavy rains and cold in the beginning and then with its warmer and sunnier weather later.  This month can be a time that can seem endless and gray. I have a new perspective.

Since we have had so many downpours this year, we haven’t had to water our lawn or plants, saving us. Also, we now have beautiful yellow wildflowers growing in our backyard. I lean back and inhale the clean scent and feel in another dimension.

I enjoy sitting out in the rain under our Lanai, watching the droplets fall to the ground and listening to the sound of it. This brings back childhood memories of my dad sitting in the garage with the door open reading his newspaper during heavy rain.

The rain takes me back to when I was a child, playing outside in the springtime back in Michigan. I didn’t care how cold it was, I had to be outside. My school was in the middle of nowhere and I had a long walk from the parking lot to the small building. It was fun running along the muddy dirt path, through the woods, and up a hill. If I fell down, I got back up and continued with my trot. Many times I was only wearing a rain coat, but that didn’t matter.

Fast forward to 2024, I still enjoy being out in the rain. I have waterproof hiking boots that keep my feet dry, and I use an oversized umbrella to ward off the heavy falling water. This way I can go for a walk and enjoy the scenery. I am so grateful for the rain because we have had years where we have had little. I’ve been told that years ago rain happened often in SoCal. I am looking forward to seeing much greenery this spring.

The rain has a calming effect on me as I am writing. I feel I can go deeper these days. There is something about the sound of the falling water beads that puts me in a peaceful place. If I get writer’s block, I can go outside and come back with an idea that I can explore.

I want to hear about your rain stories. Feel free to share in the comments.

Happy 2024

Hello Friends and welcome! Can you believe that another year has passed by? It seems like yesterday we were celebrating the new 2023. With a brand new year, are brand new goals.

For January, I plan to carry on the Holiday Spirit from 2023 as I experienced much spiritual growth. During this time, I took time for myself and put other things aside. I was able to go deep inside and let go of more that no longer serves my highest good.

I dove into my manuscript and made leaps and bounds with it. It is part of a series in which I have written the next two parts. It has been a lot of work, but I’m enjoying the process.

The story involves a woman in a life transition who must deal with a disheartening situation. There is drama between her and the supporting characters as well as a touch of the paranormal. I also include some psychic aspects.

I thank everyone who gave me feedback last year on my other projects. All of this is valuable and can be applied to everything.

This year, one thing I plan to do is resume hiking. I can’t tell you how much being out in nature soothes my soul. Years ago, I used to go solo in the spring/summer on the trails in the San Francisco Peaks in the Coconino National Forest near Flagstaff, Arizona. During this time, I had many talks with my Source and experienced beautiful sunrises. I still have fond memories of my hikes in the Aspen and pine trees. I can still smell the sweet tree scent that was in the air.

These days, there are places near me that I have hiked that offer serenity. I mention hiking in my books because it is such a big part of my life. I am grateful for my sister-in-law. She picks the best places for us to go hiking. We have such a blast when the four of us go on our special outings in nature.

Another thing I plan to resume is journalling. I used to write out several pages early in the morning to rid myself of any lingering thoughts I picked up in my sleep. Because of my year-and-half dedication, I was able to write one of my current manuscripts, including a few edits. Journalling can be a blessing particularly if you are facing challenges.

This year is going to be about having fun too. One thing we enjoy is going to live music performances. There is nothing better than the sound of your favorite music and the energy from being there.

Later I am embarking on a spiritual journey to a sacred place. I am excited and nervous at the same time. The last time I traveled was in 2021, when I visited my mom in Detroit. I will keep you posted.

I want to thank you for visiting today. Stay tuned for a guest blogger and more updates from me.

Until Next Time,

Happy Holidays!

Hello Friends, and welcome! Things are going well for us, and we are blessed! I am excited for Christmas because we will be at the park giving out boxed meals and goodie bags to those with food insecurities.

Today, I am sharing a special treat I enjoy making each year, my deep-dish homemade pumpkin pie from scratch.

Pumpkin Pie filling recipe:

Pumpkin puree ingredients:

1 pie pumpkin

1 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 oz applesauce

1 container medium firm tofu

1 teaspoon cornstarch

1/8 tsp ground ginger

1/8 tsp ground clove

1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp ground allspice

Prepare the pumpkin
Cut open the squash and clean out the insides. You can use the seeds to bake.

Put pieces face down in a Dutch oven and cover.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45 - 60 minutes or until soft.

Cool

Note: If it is watery, you can strain the pumpkin.

Peel the skin, put the pumpkin into a food processor and puree.

Add the rest of the filling ingredients and blend until smooth.

The second part of the recipe is my homemade pie crust, inspired by my grandmother.

Pie crust:

2 cups flour
1 1/2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbsp cold vegetable oil such as grapeseed
1/2 cup + 1/2 Tbsp cold margarine
1/4 cup cold water

I usually put the cold ingredients in the freezer for about an hour before using them.

Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Then cut in margarine.
In a separate bowl whisk oil and water. Then add to the flour mixture.

Cover the dough with plastic and let sit for 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 425 degrees

Roll dough onto parchment paper to avoid sticking into a large circle. Then you can place the pie pan over it and flip it so the pie crust is inside.

Fill the pie crust with the pie filling. Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes, then turn the oven to 350 degrees and continue baking for another 45- 60 minutes. You should be able to insert a butter knife and have it come out clean when it is done.

You can top it with vegan whipped cream if you choose.

Enjoy!

Happy Holidays!

Until Next Time,

Lynn

Christmas!

Hello Everyone, and a warm welcome to you! I can’t believe that the end of the year is now upon us. It seems like it was last week that the year began. I have been so busy with all my manuscripts and blogs that the time just flew by.

This year has turned out to be a blessing, much happened that contributed to my spiritual growth. Throughout I have been commenting on various parts of my spiritual practice.

I feel relief from all the inner release work I did in November. I reflected on deep things that no longer serve me and said a prayer to let them go.

A blessing that happened in November was our Brunch in the Park. It started on Saturday, Nov 18, 2023, when my sister-in-laws came to visit and help us bag our ‘goodie bags.’ It was a party for us, and they added fun to the project. Then the next day, we had the Boy Scouts help us at the park. This was amazing watching the youths serve food and be caring towards everyone. This was one of our best turnouts as well. I give a big thanks to everyone who participated.

In other news, I bulldozed through one of my manuscripts twice in November and made significant changes. I am happy with the result. My protagonist has many challenges on her life’s journey that help her evolve. With the help of supporting characters, they have comfort. Each of my characters has their own personalities that I have enjoyed developing. My antagonist’s behavior will determine a love or hate for them.

The drama gives me chills, and there is a twist. I feel this readthrough of the story helped me grow spiritually this month, too. In it, my protagonist learns about themselves and takes action.

I am thankful for the people who gave me reading feedback for the story. Having extra pairs of eyes read and see the story as I have presented it.

This month, I picked up a manuscript I haven’t worked on since 2018. This one is my “baby” that I am nurturing. As I go through it, I am flooded with memories and feel the rewriting/editing process is clearing issues in me. I will tell you more later as the plot has a mindblowing aspect.

In yesteryear, I have done outreach work on holidays. I volunteered at an animal rescue center in Michigan on Thanksgiving one year. Last Christmas Day, we had our monthly brunch in the park, which was a success. This extra TLC adds an indescribable aspect and is fulfilling in the heart. It makes me feel good knowing that my efforts bring something to someone in need on a holiday.

We may be doing a Brunch on Christmas Day. More to come later.

I am thankful that we can give of ourselves during the Holiday Season. I am carrying the Season Spirit into the New Year. One day, I spoke with several people in an elevator, and the conversations ended with blessings. It made me feel good knowing others are seeking peace for all, too.

Thank you for visiting today. Stay tuned for something old and something new.

Until Next Time,

Lynn

Christmas at Winterbourne Review 2020

Good afternoon Friends! I hope you had a fabulous day yesterday. I am very grateful for Thanksgiving yesterday and enjoyed the day.

It has been a while since I last published a book review. The one I'm presenting today was originally published in 2020. Since it has been cold here in SoCal, I felt a nice cozy Christmas story would be perfect for today - Christmas at Winterbourne by Jen Silver.

*

This is a cozy story that takes place in December at a bed and breakfast in the Sussex countryside in England. There are eight guests who come from all different backgrounds. The story is told in the third person from many points of view. When the story opens you can't help but feel like curling up in front of the fireplace with a roaring fire.

The story revolves around a well-known author, Kim Russell, who died unexpectedly from an illness years before. During the story, we see flashbacks of Kim's life that range in emotions from happiness to sadness. While she was alive, she owned a house, that she left to a former lover's daughter, Wil. Kim was Wil's loving surrogate mother. Kim was with Wil during some of her trying times. However, Kim became a recluse after a tragic event in her life. During the story, the reader learns certain truths about Kim's life that will surprise them. This added depth to the story and created a legendary appeal to her. Despite all her friends, Kim was a lonely woman with a lot of suppressed emotions.

Wil misses Kim and feels a bit of regret because she feels she didn't get to spend as much time with her as she would have liked. She converted Kim's big house into a successful B and B. She lives there with her partner, Gaby, who is expecting their baby. Wil is a hard worker and has a big heart and is very generous. She sticks by her word and offers friendship to her guests. At times Wil feels like she upset Gaby, but can't figure out what it is. I felt this character was a strong woman because of how she handled certain situations during the story, such as Gaby's pregnancy emotions.

Gaby is Italian and has a soft demeanor, but is stubborn. She came into Wil's life at a low time. She does what she can to make the B and B feel like a home for Wil and their guests; she has a motherly vibe that is soothing. On top of it all, she is dealing with a rough pregnancy. She feels insecure because of her condition. Often she shuts out Wil which intensifies things.

Ade was Kim's best friend. She is still very protective of Kim and doesn't want to see her exploited. Ade speaks her truth which isn't always rosy. At times I feel she made Wil feel uncomfortable with her bluntness. However, she really cares for Wil and wants to be supportive. Her strong character keeps Wil from falling into a depression. I really like this player and can feel her sincerity.

Two other players need to be mentioned, Clare and Sally. These two women cause friction during the story and add drama. Clare is an Australian actress who portrayed the lead character from Kim's books in movies. Clare is feisty and not afraid to speak her mind. She and Kim share a past.

The other woman, Sally is there on a mission that has everyone talking. She is sneaky but lacks suave. She has a tendency to rock the boat at times and makes the other guests feel uncomfortable. I didn't really care for this character. However, she is important for the progression of the story.

The dynamics are real and I felt the emotions of all the women. Due to the snow, they are stuck at the B and B with no wifi. I liked this touch because it creating bonding and made their vacation special. However, tensions do arise at times and I'm glad the author included this aspect.

The descriptions are good and I feel that I am there along with the women. The pace is slow. In the beginning, it was a little bit of a challenge keeping up with who was speaking in the dialog. However, the plot kept me engaged the entire ride and I could not put it down. Kim's character is legendary.

The snowy woods are romantic and provide a timeless feel. The reader wakes up on Christmas morning to a winter paradise. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did. I am recommending it to all.

Excerpt

Wil gazed out over the valley. This time of year, two days before Christmas, the landscape offered the tall, imposing outlines of bare oak and chestnut trees, interspersed with spots of greenery, the holly and the ivy. Wil had time for another canter through the trails before heading back to the house, a house full of chaos. She had been hoping for a quiet family Christmas, just herself and Gaby, but Gaby was expecting their first child and wanted her mother there. So it was the in-laws plus a few more houseguests. Gaby’s parents would be fine. Her mum would help with the cooking and her dad liked pottering around the stables. It was the other booked-in guests who might be a problem.

Winterbourne House was a popular lesbian retreat, deep in the Sussex countryside. Wil had inherited it from her adopted mother, Kim Russell. Not that Kim would have thought of herself as a mother, but the reclusive author was the closest thing to a parent she had experienced. Wil and Gaby had renovated and modernised the old country house and started taking guests in 2000. Felicity Evans and her partner, Rose, ran the stables. Both now in their late seventies, they didn’t show any sign of slowing down. In fact, Rose was dropping hints about getting married.

The final gallop was followed by a leisurely cool-down trot and walk for the last mile. Upon reaching the stables, Wil slipped off Paddy and led her back to her stall. The silver mare stood quietly for a quick rub down and accepted Wil’s offering of an apple gracefully before turning her attention to the fresh bundle of hay.

Felicity met Wil at the door of the tack room.

“Gaby wants you back at the house.” Felicity didn’t waste words with conversational pleasantries at the best of times.

“You can take care of these, then.” Wil shoved the saddle and bridle into her waiting arms and set off at a sprint for the half-mile journey up to the house. Gaby could normally take any situation in her stride but this pregnancy was taking its toll, leaving her exhausted in the evenings. She was putting it down to her age. However, Wil thought it was more likely because she wouldn’t relinquish any of her work. Gaby oversaw everything to do with the business from the accounting to the cooking.

“Can you do a pick up from the station?” Gaby threw the words over her shoulder as soon as Wil arrived in the kitchen.

“Sure, babe.” Wil leaned in for a kiss but Gaby turned her head aside so Wil’s lips only brushed a few wisps of black hair. She sighed. “Who is it I’m meeting?”

“That couple from Manchester who booked last week and someone else. I didn’t catch the name.” After fifteen years of living in the country, Gaby’s English was nearly perfect, but sometimes she would deliberately pretend she didn’t understand. Today looked like one of those days.

“Okay. Do I have time to get changed?” Wil looked down at her attire. She was wearing mud-spattered jodhpurs and riding boots.

“No. And you’re fine. They’ll expect you to look like that. Now, go. I need to finish these pies.” With her almost-full-term extended stomach Gaby could barely reach the counter to roll out the pastry.

Thanksgiving is almost here!

Hello Everyone, and welcome! I can’t believe that the holidays are upon us with Thanksgiving around the corner! I can’t wait until the big day!

I have always loved the holiday season, which starts with Halloween. The season is a time for me to reflect on the past year and see where I may need to look at areas that are going through growth.

Our Halloween was all about giving and sharing. We had our large pumpkin full of candy sitting on a stool inside the door. Our Halloween playlist played in the background, including Andrew Gold’s ‘It Must Be Halloween.’ Many trick-or-treaters of all ages came to the door, and we were amazed and impressed with all the costumes, including a princess and light-up masks.  As always, we had candy left over.

Happy Thanksgiving 2023!

I want to talk a bit about the word Thanksgiving. I remember back in school, we discussed it. Giving thanks means being thankful for all the things that have been given to me and for everything that comes my way. Today, I have much to be thankful for. I practice thankfulness every day for everything, big or small.

I also feel the same about gratitude. It’s been a journey, but I am now at the point where I am showing increased gratitude for what I have. This is an ongoing day-to-day process that never ends. I have found that my spiritual reading and praying helps immensely.

I agree with the statement in the picture below. The key for me is to find the good in everything, no matter what it may be. We all have great qualities that are easily seen. Recognizing the good in others brings out the good in them. This I am thankful for.

TheHolidaySpot.com has free holiday wallpaper!

This month is a time to also take action. One of my spiritual practices is to get out into nature. Several times a year, we meet with family for a hike. We go to beautiful places like Carbon Canyon in Orange County and Diablo Park in Long Beach. These walks put me into another state and offer the serenity I am craving. These places also make it easier for me to do inner-release work.

Later this month, I will be helping my church decorate for the Thanksgiving Day party we are having. I will be making a vegan feast like I did last year. Putting on a holiday meal is always a lot of work, but I love doing it and the finished result. The best part is sharing it.

This month is also a time to release physical things. We have been going through closets and drawers and evaluating the contents. It is such a relief to let go of items that no longer bring you joy. Many of our clothing will be given to those who live in the tiny home village where we do our monthly brunch in the park.

Next year, I am embarking on a spiritual pilgrimage. My intentions are to hear the message that will allow me to release the separation I have had from the Creator during certain periods of my life and to embrace what they have to offer. I am excited about growing spiritually.

I am very thankful and grateful I get to take part in Thanksgiving each year. From decorating to cooking to socializing, the day is very special, and I like to savor it as long as possible.

I plan to continue with my outreach work with my church as well as doing my spiritual practices. All of the inner release work I am doing will prepare me for the next holiday, Christmas.

I want to thank you for coming today. I always appreciate your support. Feel free to share this blog with your followers. Stay tuned for another book promo, a flashback Christmas story review, and something new.

Happy Holidays!

Until Next Time,

My Review of 'A New Dawn in Deer Isle.'

Good Afternoon, Everyone, and welcome! I want to thank you for all your support for my blog. Today I am presenting my review of Tom Winton’s ‘A New Dawn in Deer Isle.’

‘A New Dawn in Deer Isle’ starts out in Florida in the middle of the sweltering summer. After making a regretful decision, the protagonist, George 66, gets ambitious. Three years prior, he lost his wife. For the longest time, he and his wife shared a dream to go on an 8000-mile cross-country road starting out in Deer Isle, Maine to Colorado; the same journey that author John Steinbeck traveled in 1959.

For the past three years, George hasn’t really done much with his life. Being alone, his heart is heavy at times. He doesn’t allow others to take advantage of him. He tends to be a bit orderly and overchecks things.

However, he discovers he still has the youthful gene in him that is ready to reemerge. With this, he decides to embark on the journey solo in his old beat-up green van.

Deep inside, George has a kind heart and a soft spot that emerges as the story progresses, which allows others to come in. You will see how he must deal with his stuffed-down emotions. Some of which caused a reaction in me and gave me an in-depth sense of the character.

As George drives on his mind begins to dig into a deeper meaning of life. Appreciation builds. He sees proof that a greater sense of being exists as well as a higher purpose. The author clearly goes into the protagonist’s head and brings out stories that he never told anyone except the reader. The memories he entertains pertain to the scenes portrayed in the story gave me a timeless feeling as I read.

At the same time, George also experiences not-so-pleasant situations that test his courage and inner strength. The author did a beautiful way of describing a dangerous scene that had my heart racing.

Along George’s path comes diverse people making him uncomfortable due to his limiting beliefs. These conversations and interactions add much to the story.

Sarah is a lonely woman looking for company. Being subtle with her gestures and tone, she tends to pull people in. She doesn’t hide her sensuality. She is kindhearted and goes out of her way to be hospitable to others.

The story starts off slowly as the author describes the opening scenes, which you don’t want to miss. You are going to want to find out more about this dynamic plot. The hook will be kept wondering until the end of the story.

Be prepared during the journey, your emotions may be tugged. Different feelings, such as grief and sorrow, will show up for you. Stick with it as they add deeper dimensions to the plot.

The story ends suddenly, so be prepared to slow your reading pace so you don’t miss it. This is one I would read again just for the adventure. I highly recommend it.

 Excerpt 1

‘…Just before the van came up alongside the deer, I shot another lightning-quick glance at the road before looking out over the creature’s head, beyond the distant tree line and back at that cloud again. It was a very small cloud, and it looked peculiar the way it was laying right atop of the horizon obscuring all but just a speck of the sun. But then it happened. After one more check out the windshield, I looked back and watched for a couple of more seconds. I was stunned. The bright, round magenta hole in the cloud was taking on a completely different shape. God as my judge, right before my eyes, the cloud opened a wee bit wider, and it reformed itself into the shape of a heart—a perfect heart.

As if that wasn’t shocking enough it opened a little wider yet, and the beam of light coming through the cloud grew bigger, lighting up my face as if it was high-noon. I was absolutely stupefied. The sun’s warmth on my cheeks, nose, and forehead was much warmer than was possible so early in the morning, even a Florida morning. Then the phenomenon became even more incredible. That heart in the middle of the cloud opened up wider yet. It seemed so unnatural. But the heart really did open wide enough so that the entire red sun was now smack in the middle of it—framed by it!

It was at that very moment that I felt more than just the heat on my face. I also felt the corners of my mouth begin to lift. I was smiling….”

Excerpt 2

“…Sitting there, getting to know her, I was no longer sixty-six years old. I felt like I was in my twenties again. There were no heart troubles casting dark shadows inside my mind. The dread of eventually having to go back to Florida was nonexistent. The fact that I didn’t have much money, that my financial security was as wobbly as it was, didn’t matter either. Nothing bothered me. I was liberated from my worries and problems and felt hopeful. For the time being at least I didn’t even worry about what Lorna might have thought about me showing an interest in another woman. No, the way this intelligent woman with the slight Maine accent and full-of-life candid personality studied my eyes when I spoke, that pulled just about every ounce of negativity out of my head. But there was one thing lingering in a corner of my mind that did still concern me. I wondered if she had any idea how old I actually was. As I said earlier a lot of people mistook me to be considerably younger than I actually was. And if this encounter kept going as well as it had been, I knew I’d have no choice but to be honest with her….”

My Review of 'Rescuing you for Christmas.'

Good afternoon, Friends, and welcome! Today, I have a book review that I promised. I am getting a jump on the Holiday season with this Christmas romance by Judy Leslie, ‘Rescuing you for Christmas.’

‘Rescuing You for Christmas’ recounts the story of a woman, Paige Anderson, and her five-year-old daughter, Sarah, as they embark on a journey from Seattle to picturesque Leavenworth, Washington for a magical small-town Christmas holiday. The author shows the plot from the first paragraph, grabbing my attention with the sudden dangerous situation and what happens afterward. The story has two protagonists and is told in the first person for each.

The first protagonist, Paige, a fast-paced city girl dressed to the nines, is determined to make this Christmas the best for her daughter. With phone in hand, numerous pictures are snapped and posted on her social media site. She has a mother's love for her daughter, and their relationship is priceless. They bond over the time they spend together, whether making cookies for Christmas or reading stories. You will be touched.

However, Paige is haunted by a past hurt relationship, hindering her from venturing out of her comfort zone. She wants to fill the ache in her heart with a meaningful person for the long run.

Sarah, the adorable five-year-old old, is excited about Christmas and doesn't care where she is; she has a party everywhere. Her authentic actions are priceless, and she steals the scene with her cuteness; she will win your heart. Underneath her joy, she is missing something significant that pains her. The question is, will she be able to fulfill it?

Sarah offers comfort to all the players and enjoys being with adults. She gravitates towards happiness, and she shows it in the story. Her young child's brilliance will enlighten your spirit.

Matt Holloway, the second protagonist, has a kind heart for others and goes out of his way to help a stranger. However, he has limits and will not allow anyone to manipulate his kindness. A typical bachelor, he knows little outside of doing manly things. He is polite but sometimes puts his foot in his mouth due to his awkwardness towards Paige at the start. A creative person, he has a secret that Paige and Sarah will discover.

What I like is learning about Matt from the inside with his thoughts. This gives you a better understanding of what is going on with him. He appears prepared for things and situations but isn’t there emotionally. He handles things his own way and doesn’t appear to want to change. You decide whether he is ready for the direction he is headed in.

Along the way, one supporting character, Les, enters the scene. She uses her strong, consistent sexuality to draw Matt in. Being the envious type, her actions are controlling, especially with other women present. She has a likable side, which she uses on Matt, too. Her role in the book adds competition and intensifies the plot.

Be on guard for two minor players who might cause emotion with their over-the-board pushiness. Their words challenge the beliefs of both protagonists while pushing them into the unknown.

The story pace is medium with shots of zenith peppered throughout, pumping up the middle of the story. These episodes offer excitement and will draw out emotions. The author will keep you guessing about the outcome with all the turns. The little touches she adds to the scenes create an ambiance that only happens at Christmas.

This is a perfect book to pick up on a snowy day where you can curl up in front of the fireplace to read. You will need to be available to read it in one sitting. I highly recommend it.

Excerpt

“…When we get to the front of the line, I order our drinks and some pastries, then we go to join Matt.

“Wow. Look at you two.” He eyes Sarah up and down in her all-pink outfit. “Are you wearing cotton candy?” he teases her. She giggles. He glances up at me. “Seriously, that’s a big improvement.”

I set the shopping bags down and slide across from him. Sarah sits next to me.

“I thought since it’s only a light snow and you looked dressed for it, that we do a couple of things before heading back.” Matt’s attention is focused on Sarah.

“What are we doing?” Sarah’s eyes widen with anticipation.

“First, we go to the reindeer farm so Sarah can see the deer, and then head over for a horse-drawn sleigh ride. What do you think?”

I think Sarah’s going to burst with excitement. As for me, “Sounds terrific. I bet I can get some great photos to post on social media.”

Matt doesn’t bother to answer. “I checked on your car, and it looks like it won’t be ready until Christmas Eve.”

I give him a tight smile. “I hope you can put up with us until then.”

“If not, I have a friend I can stay with.” Friend, hunh? I wonder if it was the woman he’d been talking to. “Sure, that sounds fine.”

After warming up with our hot drinks and snacks, we drive a short distance to the farm.

Sarah is intrigued by the idea of the reindeer. “They kind of look like the elk we saw.”

“They’re relatives,” he tells her.

“Do they fly too?”

Matt and I both laugh, and Sarah joins in, even though she doesn’t get the joke. “I can’t answer that,” Matt finally replies when he catches his breath.

The sleigh ride is magical. The three of us huddle together under a blanket as the horses trot along a snow-covered trail. The experience feels right out of a fairytale, except with the reality of a cold and drippy nose, wind-slapped cheeks that are colder than cold, and numb toes. However, I know this is a memory that Sarah will never forget.

I shiver as the wind bites through me, even with my snow clothes. Without putting it into words, Matt notices and puts his arm around me, pulling me closer to the heat of his body.

My stomach flutters at the feeling of his warm and comforting arm wrapped around me. I look over at him, and his eyes twinkle down at me, his smile almost too wide. He’s obviously enjoying this as much as we are.

On the way back from the sleigh ride, Matt takes a detour back to town. So we don’t have to cook tonight, he picks up a couple of to-go pasta dishes he ordered ahead from an Italian restaurant. Then, it’s back into the warm car and the drive back to the cabin. Sarah falls asleep in the back….”

October Blessings

Hello Everyone, and welcome! It is that time again when the temperatures cool and trees turn colors, and the leaves fall to the ground. I am so grateful that this year we got to enjoy less extreme September temperatures. Today I am writing about my love for October. Having grown up in Michigan, it was a treat each year.

We lived in a community about forty miles north of Detroit in the middle of dirt roads and corn fields, or at least it was when I lived there. There were nearby farms that sold produce during the Harvest season. It was fun buying fresh ears of corn and apples.

My dad would have us pick up all the twigs from our massive backyard. We had tall cottonwood trees that shaded much of the space and were a mess to clean up, but I loved them. When the leaves fell, I would take my rake, make piles, and jump into them. Afterward, I would create pathways. It was paradise.

My folks would take us on a short road trip on the main road north past a place called Addison Oaks, about fifty miles north of Detroit. Massive trees with diverse colors, from yellow to burnt orange to red spread out for miles. The incredible sights created awe moments where my appreciation for life was perfect.

The best part of October has always been Halloween. Each year my family decorated our house in a traditional Halloween fashion. Cornstalks that we picked from a nearby cornfield garnished the front porch columns. On either side of the front door sat an assortment of pumpkins selected from a nearby pumpkin farm.

The Halloween season brings back memories of me running through the pumpkin field in search of the perfect pumpkin, which, of course, was the most oversized one. However, we always took home lesser grand gourds, which were large enough for me.

We would carve the pumpkins and put a candle inside on Halloween day. Then, it was time to get ready to trick or treat. I would dress up in different costumes, including Darth Vader one year. It was so much fun to be in the pretend world for one night.

Today, visiting pumpkin farms is something I still enjoy doing. It gives me great pleasure to sit among the pumpkins. Being close to the large gourds is peaceful and reminds me of all my great childhood Halloween memories.

This year, we have partially decorated our house for Halloween, complete with lights in the window and spider webs, but have yet to pick out the pumpkins. Closer to Halloween, we will put up caution tape around the yard to halt the youngsters from walking on the front lawn as well as add to the presentation.

On the big evening, I dress up and get into character while passing out candy. Watching those kids come to the door and say ‘trick or treat’ while wearing a cute costume brings us so much joy. They come in such attire as scary monsters, unicorns, and other popular children’s media themes.

Like responsible pet parents, Maui and Shasta, our two black cats, will be indoors around Halloween. It is recommended that cat parents keep their beloved felines inside during this time.

To me, October represents letting go of the old so I can bring in the new. Former beliefs that say, ‘I am not good enough,’ fall and give way to ones that empower me, such as, “There’s good for me, and I ought to have it.” This quote by Emma Curtis Hopkins helps me each day I recite it. As a result, my thoughts are aligning with my spiritual source, whom I call Creator.

With outdated beliefs gone, I can now have the new higher energies manifest in me. A lot of activity is going on that has made me realize that the only thing that matters is Creator-Love and anything contrary is an illusion. I am now free to manifest.

This past month, I have done some spiritual practices. I find by chanting for five minutes each day, I am grounded and centered. This has helped me to ward off toxic energies and not entertain negative scenarios. I am also writing in the morning to get thoughts down on paper that I can throw away. Because of these practices, I am enjoying more positivity in my life.

The Halloween season prepares me for the following Autumn holiday, Thanksgiving. I am doing the inner work now to be present for it and the rest of the holiday season. We have much to look forward to.

Thank you for visiting today. I want to hear about your October/Halloween stories, so feel free to share them in the comments. This season and beyond, I will do my best by giving where needed and extending peace and harmony to all.

Stay tuned. I will be presenting a book review soon.

Until Next Time,

Lynn

A Day in the Tropical Storm

Hello Friends, and welcome! It has been a rollercoaster month in the elevated temperatures with my busy schedule. The biggest news was the 2023 Tropical Storm Hilary that hit Southern California on August 20. When I first heard of the upcoming storm, I was in for a shock since California usually doesn’t get these types of storms.

I have only encountered heavy rain and winds in my area, never a tropical storm. It is recorded that the last hurricane to hit SoCal happened in the 19th century. Unfortunately, due to the lack of media, the people were unprepared. Hopefully, that hurricane will stay a one-time occurrence.

This time, people were warned with plenty of time to stock up on necessities and prepare for potential winds and flooding. We have an emergency kit for situations like this, and we have just done a food shop. We were set.

Photo taken out of my Jeep window.

We woke on the big day to thick clouds and drizzling droplets, with heavy air but a refreshing scent. We went about our usual Sunday morning routine as though it was only a rainstorm. The cats acted normal but were upset they could not go outside.

Later that morning, we drove to church, occasionally splashing through large puddles on the street. Otherwise, all was smooth. By the time we got there, we were in a downpour.

Afterward, in the afternoon, we attended a spiritual workshop. The pelting of the rain on the roof sounded like hail. It added a resonating rhythm to the class that put me at ease, allowing me to enjoy learning the material.

At one point during the class, the floor began to shake; I could see the shaking. I looked over at my classmates, and we all started laughing and renamed the storm ‘Hurri quake.’ Earthquakes stir me up, but this one rolled right by me. After the interruption, we had a short break, and then the instructor resumed the workshop.

A little while later, I went outside into the rain. Although there wasn’t any flooding on the church grounds, I got soaked from head to toe. Thankfully, the winds were minimal. It felt good having that water cascade down my head and shoulders as I made my way to the covered patio. I stepped into the shallow water puddles just for fun.

The workshop was exactly what I needed. The storm made it possible for me to attend because we were scheduled to have our Brunch in the Park that day (which was postponed to the next week). I walked out of the workshop feeling optimistic.

Later that day, we stayed home, sitting on our back patio enjoying the rain falling. We were pleased, knowing we could save on watering the garden since the storm was taking care of that. The water on trees and foliage branches was breathtaking. I stood out in the rain, gazing at this beautiful site.

The next day, I rose to light rain and no winds, a perfect chilly day to weed my gardens. Feelings of release flew through me as I pulled them from the wet ground. And as the earth released the weed, it gave me empowerment; many layers of outdated beliefs fell by the wayside. Add the fresh rain scent, and I was off in another world.

It needs to be noted that much of SoCal was hit hard by heavy rain. Parts of the I-8 were washed over and another piece of the road fell apart. Floods rushed into the small desert cities, creating waterways out of the streets. During the storm, I used my weather channel app on my phone to track the positions of the storm as it swept across the Pacific and into the mainland. The videos they presented were like out of a horror film. Our prayers go out to those affected by the storm.

I am grateful our area didn’t get slammed by the storm. By the time it hit the shore, it had degraded to a tropical storm. The high winds the meteorologists had proposed had diminished, and we suffered no damage to our property, save for three tree branches that fell on our parkway: no power outages or flooding.

The storm gave me time to reflect on things and release more of what didn’t serve me. Since that day, I have felt more at peace with things that used to bother me. This I am thankful for. Another change is I now view some ideas and concepts differently than formerly. This has allowed good things to manifest for us and has freed up much energy that I used to waste on worry.

The above quote corresponds to the storm in that I could fall into a rhythm instead of panicking. I was surrounded by calmness. I knew inside that all was safe and that I would emerge out of the situation in one piece, and I did, plus much more gratitude for life itself.

Thank you for visiting today. Surviving the ‘Hurri quake’ was quite an adventure, but one that I don’t regret. I am thankful that I could spend time with my church family that day and then come home and be with mine.

Stay tuned, as I will have a book review soon and more writing updates.

Until Next Time,

Lynn

Summer Check-In Blog

Hello Everyone and welcome. It has been a beastly hot summer, after having a cold spring. I can’t complain because I still enjoy sitting out on my back patio and enjoying what nature has to offer. This is the place where I go into the now and enjoy internal peace amongst the plants and trees in my back garden. Beauty showers me each day as you can see in the pictures below.

As many of you know, I have spent 2023 working on three manuscripts. This has kept my mind very engaged. My main manuscript has people forming healing circles to focus on the places on earth that need it, such as those affected by war and famine and those without housing. With intention, they pray for spiritual healing. People in real life conduct these circles with the same purposes. Many years ago, I attended one, and the energy felt from it gave me an incredible feeling.

Because of such circles, people are now serving those in need. Our mission is to make it possible for others to have a positive future. We want to get people into housing and programs that offer work. I believe all of this is possible.

This month, I focused on other projects and put the manuscripts temporarily to the side. One thing we are doing is clearing out stagnant energy. As we do this, the new energy is free to come in. These efforts are taking a weight off my shoulders. My mind cleared the debris that caused some writer’s block.

My time off has made me rethink some aspects of my manuscripts. Some things will be changed to reflect my new life. I plan to resume my editing later this month.

I am grateful for the people who are helping me see things in different ways. Their input has helped me develop myself further as a writer. Some feedback has made it possible for me to redo certain aspects where I had been previously stuck.

Writers, I encourage you to use beta readers. Their insight can help you prevent such tragedies as a sagging middle of the story, among other things.

Another thing I enjoy doing is reading books. As I read, I take notes for my review. I am reading two that I will be sharing soon. Both books offer adventures to various places, with one involving some risk. Reading puts me into another world where I can see things from a completely different point of view.

A practice I am incorporating into my life is chanting. The rhythm of it puts me into a trance where my mind can relax. The words, too, offer positive encouragement. By reciting them over and over, I am affirming everything.

For months, I have been affirming for a very positive experience to appear in my life. Recently, it manifested to take place in 2024. I am floored with excitement! I will be sharing more in the upcoming months.

Affirming daily has helped me in other ways, too. I feel a closer connection with Creator, which is very important. One of my favorite quotes is from early 20th-century, author, Emma Curtis Hopkins: ‘There’s good for me, and I ought to have it.’

This quote tells me that I can do anything I intend. With enough faith, I can move mountains. Right now, big bumps are smoothing out for me. We may be experiencing chaos on the outside, but I am not worried because I know things will work themselves out in the highest and best way.

I want to thank you all for visiting today. I am ready to embark on the next phase of my life. The spiritual work I do aligns me with my spiritual source. I am grateful for the things I have in my life, including my loved ones.

Have an enjoyable holiday weekend!

Until Next Time,

Lynn

Memories of Boblo Island

When I look back at my childhood, I smile at my fond memories. What made them great was the fun exciting places my folks took us to; these experiences helped me become the woman I am today. One of those places was the former Boblo Island, aka, Bois Blanc Island, located at the mouth of the Detroit River in Ontario, Canada.

Boblo Island was an amusement park built in 1898 and was a popular place to visit in the summertime. People would flock there each year from May to September for thrills and excitement. The first amusement rides were installed in 1910 which added to the attraction of the park. In 1949 after being under threat of bankruptcy, the park was bought and turned into an amusement park, hence the birth of the place I knew and loved.

My earliest memory of Boblo was when I was five. Each summer after that, my folks took us to the island. Our anticipation of the big day began on the day school let out. Then on the night before we went, we would have trouble falling asleep due to our excitement. Many times, we would bring a friend.

The adventure started at the Detroit dock in Detroit, Michigan. It was crawling with people of all ages and ethnicities waiting to board the big four-story boat, either the Ste. Claire or the Columbia. Then at 10:00 a.m., we embarked on the eighteen-mile, hour-and-a-half journey to the island through calm waters. Me and my sister would run up and inside the boat with my father calling after us.

There were fun things to do on the boat, including arcade games. I enjoyed running around the boat while my folks stood by the railing, watching a fantastic view of the Detroit waterfront as we sailed by. I enjoyed people-watching while songs such as ‘Rock the Boat’ played. My biggest interest was the hip teens dancing to disco music, which I would join in. That music entranced me until we reached our destination.

For the adults, they had a full bar that was always packed. I think my folks went in there once, but that was it.

Finally, we docked. This time my dad made sure we were close by as we departed the boat and onto the island. Now the big fun began, and my excitement was through the roof. I couldn’t wait to get on the rides.

Above pictures: Detroit Historical Society

As a little kid, my folks took us to the kiddie rides, and there were plenty of them. We rode the Merry-go-round and other circular rides. The massive slide, where you slid down on top of a potato sack, was a favorite. My folks took us for a ride on the old-fashioned car ride where you got to drive the car around a mini park. Riding up to the top of the tall space needle, located on the island was a real treat. Here we had a 360-degree view of the park and the surrounding water.

On hot days, we would go on the log ride and enjoy the thrills of ascending a slope and then crashing down into the waters below, splashing everyone in the boat. We’d pretend we would not get wet and scream as the water cascaded over us with a big soak.

As I got older, my folks let us go on the ‘big kid’ rides. The ride that got my attention when I was little was the roller coaster. Now I could go on it, and of course, I sat in the back or front seats. I felt those were the most exciting seats to be in for the duration of the ride. I also enjoyed the fast spin rides such as the swings and a ride resembling the tilt-a-wheel. The Rotor spun around fast and would drop the floor as you stuck to the sides of the wall. Other riders would scream and try to pull themselves off the wall. The experience was electrifying. I had to go on the ride again!

One thing I always enjoyed was the two-mile train ride around the island. It drove around the park's perimeter and stopped at various places. My folks enjoyed the ride as much as I did because it saved a walking trip for them, and I would go into my imagination.

To top off everything, my folks took us to dinner at one of the food stands. We enjoyed hotdogs and French fries. (I didn’t go vegetarian until I was older). We would also indulge in a snow cone or popcorn and sometimes ice cream. That was the best food, even though nutritionally, it wasn’t. To me, that didn’t matter, and I would savor the taste for hours.

Walking around the park was interesting, and I enjoyed more people watching. Sure, we had to wait in line for the rides, but the time went by fast because the park vibe made you want to be there. The lines were always in a maze as people walked through them. Occasionally we’d overhear someone say where they were from, some from the Detroit area and others from other places.

We would stay at the park until about 7:00 p.m. and get on the boat to return to the Detroit dock. Like before, the boat offered much excitement for everyone. I would review my day in my head and brag to my folks about the rides I went on. Then my folks would people-watch as I wandered around the boat.

When we arrived at the Detroit dock, it was pretty much deserted except for the workers. By now, darkness had come upon us. It was now that my excitement would wane, and I would feel tiredness coming on. It seemed like hours for us to walk back to the car, where we usually fell asleep on the way home.

Later, Boblo added a corkscrew ride that many people loved. Unfortunately, as a teen, my friends were not interested in going there anymore. At the same time, the crowds began to decline as more exciting rides were popping up at other amusement parks. I was really sad when my mom told me in 1993 that the park was closing. My experiences there are irreplaceable and can only be relived through my storytelling.

My childhood would not have been the same if Boblo hadn’t been part of it. The park was like no other I had ever visited; the long boat ride added to the adventure. It was the perfect paradise for everyone during the 1970s. Boblo may be gone physically, but it will live with me forever in memory.

Be Kind to Animals

Hello Friends, and welcome. The summer days are here, bringing back childhood memories and enjoying Michigan's hot days. I still love the essence of the season and the warmer temps. It is critical to remember, though, since we are pet parents, to make sure our loved ones are comfortable with fresh food and water. On beastly days, they have to stay indoors, and they let me know their feelings.

Today I share my love for animals, especially cats, and dogs, and what they mean.

Kalani

My animal parenthood journey began when I bought my house in Phoenix many years ago. The previous owners had a cat whom they were taking to pound. So that I how I got the cat, Phoenix.

Then, of course, soon after, my friend at work told me that she found kittens. So now Phoenix had Prescott to play with. Shortly after I met with a cat rescue woman, I found myself helping her with cat adoptions at Petsmart and going on cat rescues. This work touched my heart because of the homeless animals.

Over the years, many cats have come into my life, and today we have our small brood whom we adore. What I like about cats is that they’re intelligent. I had one black cat, Onyx, who knew her name and would fetch balls. She would also look you right in the eye. Another cat could open doors both ways, so you had to lock it if you didn’t want him in your room. I’ve also had cats waiting at the front door when I came home from work. I can go on and on.

As an author, my books include cats. In one of my manuscripts, my protagonist has a few with whom she has significantly bonded; she understands the cat. I show my readers that cats are not always aloof. My character’s cats are lovable and playful but need to be around her.

Shasta and BJ

I have changed another manuscript to have a dog because, over the years, they have shown their tender sides, which touched me in a great way. For my research, I am talking with other dog parents who share much with me about their canine family members. I have learned that dogs must be worked with and cannot be left alone for too long.

The protagonist in this story previously did rescue work for dogs and adopted her mixed breed. She, too, is bonded with her pet, takes her on long walks around her neighborhood, and plays catch with her. Here the reader gets to see her loving relationship with her furry companion.

Dogs take me back to my childhood when we had a purebred Sheltie named Missy. This dog, unfortunately, had a nervous disposition because of how she was bred. I loved this dog and played with her in our backyard. When  I was older, we had no animals, so the dogs I bonded with were my neighbors’. I will never forget the cute black poodle my childhood best friend had. Or the dog across the street who would come over and lick my face. Other neighbors had friendly dogs whom I also played with. My mind is flooded with dog memories.

Polo

SiSi

The dog, Polo, in the picture to the left, was my brother and sister-in-law’s dog, who passed last year at 18. He had a great temperament, was good with kids, and warmed everyone’s hearts. I remember the day I met him. He licked my hand and let me pet his head.

I am blessed to have a friend with a dog, Sisi, whom she likes to bring when she comes to visit. Sisi and the cats are fine together. The dog is lovable and will let you pet her while she rests. My friend loves to take her on hikes. I adore her.

I want to hear from you about your furry friend’s stories and pictures—thanks to those who already have. Cats and Dogs are true blessings.

Thank you for visiting my last two posts, including my review of Tom Winton’s ‘Four Days With Hemingway’s Ghost.’. I will do more book reviews in the future, so stay tuned.

July Happenings

Hello Everyone, and a big welcome to you. I have been very busy with many activities and feel very well. Today I am sharing things that have made a positive difference for me.

For the past few months, my spiritual quest has broadened. I have been drawn to the don Miguel Ruiz books and am getting so much out of reading them. I read for about fifteen minutes daily and then reflect on what I just read. If my mind wanders as I read, I stop and ponder for a moment and reread the last sentence. I find that by reading out loud; I can get my mind into a focused meditative state. Thus I can retain better.

The Four Agreements have helped me see things in a way that makes sense. I like that the author reintegrates the four agreements in the Fifth Agreement. I want to take my time with things and let my mind ponder on things. This helps me understand the reading, and when I align with the teachings, all the better.

These past few months have offered me spiritual challenges that forced me to rethink my old belief systems. The process caused some emotional pain, but I came out of the forest feeling more enlightened. As these belief systems vanished, the negative voice in my mind did too. However, it took work to get there.

Previously, my belief system was that I wasn’t good enough. This was because I followed the steps of others instead of following my own. I believed everything people told me as truth when it wasn’t mine, to begin with. By reading my books, I have discovered that what others think of me is none of my business and that it is only their point of view, thus their story.

Years ago, when I was lost, nothing made sense to my confused mind, and I believed my life was up for chance; goodness didn’t exist because I didn’t know how to get it or couldn’t see it. The changes I have made to combat this have increased my inner strength. I look back at myself and now realize I have a lot of goodness in my life.

My dedication to the homeless ministry is one way I am being of service. We have moved our location to be near a tiny home village. I am overjoyed that we have this program here in Los Angeles. This gives people a safe place to call home from the elements. It is a blessing that more tiny home villages are popping up in different places in the city.

My heart went out to a few people one Sunday at the park. One woman said that all her blankets had been drenched in the rain from being in a tent on the street. Another woman kept a makeshift weapon to bat off the rats. Being out on the street is a hard life where you must fend for yourselves while dealing with outdoor conditions.

Our last picnic attracted more people than expected; we ran out of food. We are always in need of wrapped plastic utensils and toothbrushes. We are grateful to receive these items.

This is work that I enjoy doing, and it makes me happy when I make others smile. All it takes is a friendly smile and “Hello” from me, and they are there. I feel good knowing they are getting a hot meal and blessings that day. It is remarkable that more people are becoming aware of this and are taking positive action, such as distributing food to people on the street.

Today I have become a woman I can be proud of due to my long-term soul-seeking. My life is in a new space because I am taking action for spiritual growth. Daily, I do my spiritual practice, including praying, writing, church, and other things.

One of my practices is weeding my gardens. Because I do this daily, my gardens are pretty much weed-free. My challenge is with crabgrass, and I found an easy way to combat this. As I have done this practice, many minor belief systems and agreements have disappeared. And I have beauty I can enjoy in my garden.

Because of my spiritual dedication, I can accept accountability and responsibility for all my actions. I am becoming more patient towards the person who cuts me off on the road. I have to remember that all it takes is a split second of being off-centered for me to slip into a horrible decision. With this in mind, I put myself into the eye of the hurricane and go about my day.

Colleen Wilson

People are showing their love and kindness around me, and being with them on their spiritual journey is fantastic. More spirit-minded people are entering my life because of all my inner spiritual work. I can’t describe the amount of gratitude I feel for them and our friendship. The friends in my life manifested because I got out of my way and accepted my divinity.

My dream is to live in a world where peace and harmony prevail. To get there, I need to ensure I align with Spirit. I find that by doing my daily spiritual practices; I achieve much more than I would have if I had done nothing.

Today is a beautiful day, and I can appreciate its glory. I plan to do more deep prayer shortly, which I found helpful with this last shift. I am learning not to take things others say personally because it is only their story. I know who I am and am acting to align myself with Creator.

Until Next Time,

Lynn

My Review of Tom Winton's 'Four Days With Hemingway's Ghost'

Good afternoon and welcome. Today I have a treat for you, my review of Tom Winton’s ‘Four Days With Hemingway’s Ghost.’ If you haven’t read this story yet, keep reading.

‘Four Days With Hemingway’s Ghost’ caught my attention when a promo appeared on my Facebook feed. The title is enticing because I am a Hemingway fan; ‘The Old Man and the Sea’ is a favorite story of mine. Paranormal is a favorite genre. The story's location is in the beautiful Florida Keys; the scenery is breathtaking. Let’s meet the protagonist.

Jack Phelan is at a crossroads in his life. He is a determined person who sometimes does life the hard way, as with the situation that created the main plot of this story. From there on, Jack lives his life from another perspective that gives him a deeper meaning.

The main supporting character, Ernest Hemingway, appears. It is known that he was a bold man. The way the author describes him is exactly what I had read about him. However, the author also portrays a softer side of Ernest that touches my heart.

The story describes the four days Jack spends with Ernest. The author describes it as though I am right there listening to their conversations. I love that Ernest takes Jack to various important places. There is a scene that may cause emotions, as it involves an angry person. The tension here between the players is realistically believable.

The interactions Jack has with the other players are amazing. I can clearly see the invisible bond he has with his wife. As the story moves along, you will see that Jack needs to understand some spiritual lessons. With that, he is free to manifest his life’s mission.

I like that the author portrays Jack and Hemingway as real people I can interact with.

The drama is exciting and page-turning, including a scene that will keep you reading. The reader gets an insight into some struggles Jack has in his life in the latter part of the story. I now have a greater appreciation for others doing the same thing.

This book takes the reader on an enjoyable ride throughout the entire plot. It is medium-paced and made me laugh in places. Sometimes you may feel like you are on a guided tour vacation with Hemingway. This book is one of my favorites and can be enjoyed again. I hope you will relish the adventure as much as I did.

May Musings

Good Afternoon, Friends! Life has been great for me this year. We have been participating in various activities that helped me spiritually. My most significant realization is that what matters is in the now.

I have been busy working on two projects, one of which is an older one I picked up to finish. I am almost done with the writing on that one. It is a fantasy story with a mystery and a few twists.

For the other, I’m ready for a beta reader. It has a conspiracy in it. Let me know if you are interested.

The Daily Feels Publication is in process, but we are working hard to get it back online with new bloggers and exciting blogs. I am blessed to be part of the Daily Feels Admin Team.

Today I am reposting a blog I posted on WordPress in May 2020. Enjoy!

Hello Everyone and welcome. I hope you are all being safe and well. For me, it seems that time has slowed down. Being a writer I'm used to staying indoors and being secluded so this quarantine really isn't having a big impact on me in that respect. I have kept myself busy with a variety of things.

Big Island, Hawaii

2017

This semester I'm taking a German class for self-enrichment. It is really fun learning the structure of the language and how similar it is to English. It has helped me keep my mind off of things and focusing on how I'm going to learn all my vocabulary for my next quiz. Learning a language is like putting together a puzzle. I'm planning to continue with my studies this fall.

In the writing world, I've put together an outline for book 4 and have written just over 25k words. I plan to resume my work on it once my German class is over. It is a romance story with some paranormal. My protagonist has strong ethics and at first, she is afraid to voice herself. I will tell you more later on.

Also, I have been very busy promoting my new release, Enticed by Love. I want to thank all of you who purchased the book and gave me a review. I really appreciate this. Here is a blurb to my story, Enticed by Love:

This unique story is about a woman, Henrietta, who is haunted by a past love while another one waits on the horizon. Her long-lost lover often occupies her mind. Last Saturday, I was the guest on the Facebook Group The Lesbian Readers Book Club's The Grill. People posted their questions in the group and I answered them. It was such a blast. I got to see familiar faces as well as meet new ones. I want to thank all who came and asked me questions.

I continue my work with this blog. To give back to the reading and writing community, I feature authors and artists. Last week I had author Elle Hyden as my guest blogger. I'm supportive of these people because I appreciate them for who they are - artists. Like me, they are out there promoting their work. There is so much that goes into creating their art.

In other news, 2020 has changed me in a number of ways. I feel free to be who I am and I love that. During this time, I have gone within a deep reflection. I feel closer to the Source and am exploring this. I'm in the eye of a hurricane where all is peaceful, no matter what is going on in the outside world.

Each day I wake up and reflect on gratitude. I am grateful for a lot of things, including my writing, my wife, and life itself. I'm blessed that I am able to give back to the writing and reading communities.

I am truly happy to be here. My contribution has helped many people on their journeys. By working together we are able to promote each other and help each other grow. I'm encouraging you to reach out to readers and writers and give them a shout-out. Also, don't forget to write a review for the authors of the books you read. This shows the author you appreciate their hard work.

Lastly, never let anyone's criticism destroy your passion for your work. Your art is unique and amazing and there is room for all to shine. With this said, keep writing, creating, and sharing.

I want to thank all of you for coming today. Your participation here is greatly appreciated. To give back to you, I am giving away a copy of my new release, Enticed by Love. To enter all you need to do is add a comment in the comments section of this blog. Thank you so much for all your continued support. I couldn't have done it without you.

Thank you so much for your continued support. I appreciate all you do. As I said, The Daily Feels will be online soon, as will my new blog, so stay tuned.

Meanwhile, I am working on a book review that will be posted shortly.

Until Next Time,

Lynn

Release Party - 'Fae and Moon Bound' by Domina Alexandra!

Hello Everyone, and welcome! Today I have a treat for you! Author Domina Alexandra is releasing her new book, the fourth in the Claimed series, “Fae and Moon Bound.” This epic continues with Bonnie’s new life and her adventures. I enjoyed reading the first book, “A Night Claimed,” in which I enjoyed the character interactions and the action.

The Journey Continues on April 28, 2023!

Less than a year as a newly awakened werewolf and Omega, Bonnie’s life has yet to be boring. Surviving rogue werewolves, ghouls, and a dangerous stalker should make Bonnie feel more confident in surviving the future, but then again, she lets herself be captured to protect her pack and family. One thing Bonnie had not anticipated was being reunited with someone from her past.

Bonnie will have to leave behind her impulsive legacy and go through the ultimate test if she wants to maintain independence. Placing trust in her pack, old connections, and new allies is easier said than done. As Bonnie’s family’s past begins to surface, it will bring her one step closer to a new enemy who has every intention of claiming her. And this enemy doesn’t take “No” for an answer.

With her Alpha mate Rikki, at her side, Bonnie just might make it through this new and very, unwanted nightmare.

But there’s a silver lining Bonnie has yet to see. The unfathomable chaos might be just what she needs to bring her closer than ever to her mate and pack.

My Review for Domina Alexandra’s ‘A Night Claimed’ – Lynn Lawler's Creative Artists' Blog

“Bonnie, the protagonist, is a dedicated paramedic and has seen it all. She is tough and can take care of herself; she is a leader and doesn’t like others to own her. When it comes to her job, she is the utmost professional and takes charge of the situation. At the same time, her loving demeanor is addicting and people are comforted by her kindness. She is a strong loving woman and I admired that trait in her.”

Coming April 28, 2023!

Read an exciting excerpt from ‘Fae and Moon Bound!’

“…I heard a whistle, and the monstrous beast took a few steps back, no longer hovering over me. It resembled a hideous version of a large greyhound, with bulkier shoulders and a wilder mouth. It looked to weigh more than 400 pounds, its wide build muscular. The beast possessed an oddly human-like visage with a protruding nose in place of a muzzle. Its ears were short and pointed outward like the faes back at the restaurant.

It's long thick claws scraped the smooth surface as it watched me with an obedient stance. I rose on my elbows to finally look around without turning away from the beast.

There was open fire on each of the fourteen granite columns, lighting up the entire throne hall and coating everything in an orange glimmer. The illustrations of gods on the curved ceiling danced in the flickering light while sculptures looked down upon the mahogany floor of this ceremonious hall. It looked elegant but from the energy of the hall, I knew too much death existed here.

A sapphire rug ran from the throne down through the center and split into two paths leading out. Ribbon banners with ornate quilting hung from the walls. I laid just at the center of the throne hall, as a woman in all white stared down at me with a gleeful expression as if she’d caught a big prize.

Raine sat, curled to her side a few feet from me, a fae standing over her with a sword in hand. My eyes darted from her to the beasts, and knew I wouldn’t be able to reach her without this beast tearing into me.

“Why has the music stopped?” The woman sitting on the throne questioned, swirling her arms as if acting as a conductor for an orchestra.

More faes lined the hall, like guards, their faces stoic, I noticed a young woman looking exhausted, holding a violin. She was human and I could tell she hadn’t wanted to be here but was trapped. It saddened me to think how long she’d been here, playing music for the Queen and her court.

I finally took in the Queen, aware that she was in control of the beasts and her faes. She had red, oily hair slightly revealing a carved, radiant face and pointy ears. Glinting violet eyes, set gracefully within their sockets, watched impatiently as she waited for the young woman to start playing. The Queen looked younger than me, but from what Rachelle mentioned she was centuries older.

When the violinist began playing, the Queen's smile returned and stood clapping. Her posture was straight and poised as she swirled her hips, moving to the music.

“Perfect!” she cheered….”

My Daily Feels Blog - January 2023 - Recovery

Good afternoon, friends and readers, and welcome. Come check out my newest Daily Feels blog on Recovery, posted on Jan 25, 2023.

In the past when I heard the word, ‘recovery,’ I immediately thought of the 12-step programs. The program for me felt like I was in jail for messing up my life. As time went on, my views of recovery have changed for the better. But it took time to get there.

For the longest time in my life, I have kept to myself, not sure of which direction I was going. For the most part, I was confused over various aspects of my life and I could not understand why certain things have happened. My soul was full of worry as one thing after another came my way. I believed that everything was left up to chance and that it was stacked against me.

At the same time, I didn’t do much in my spiritual practice regarding this because I was either angry at Creator or else, I didn’t understand. I read and looked everywhere for answers, but it wasn’t until I found the teachings of Ernest Holmes that I was able to break free from bondage to the past….
